Dorothy Mildred (Bernard) Brown, 82, of Acadia Place, Dartmouth passed away suddenly Sept. 2, 2010 at Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born April 10, 1928 in New Jersey, USA, she was the daughter of the late Mildred (Clarke) and Harry Bernard. Dorothy grew up in Charlottetown, P.E.I. and lived most of her adult life in Sydney, N.S.
She enjoyed knitting, gardening and country music.
Dorothy is surived by her son, James (Lillian) Brown, Lower Sackville; daughters, Janice (Rob) Somerville, Maine, Carolyn Fourgére, Halifax; grandchildren, Tyler and Kyle Somerville, Dallas, Geoff and Kimberlea Brown, Jillian Fourgére and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry and Chester, both of P.E.I., Wayne, Alberta, Keith, Ontario; sister, Jean Cousins, Florida.
She was predeceased by her husband, John James Brown; daughters, Nancy, Brenda; son-in-law, Scott Fourgére.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, followed by a reception. Burial to take place at a later date at Hardwood Hill Cemetery, Sydney, N.S.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, VON or a charity of your choice.
