Today we said goodbye to our father who lived life to the fullest, born in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, in 1929, son of the late James and Cora (nee Colburn).
Beloved husband of the late La-Vivian (nee Gauthier). Proud father of Connie (Ivan) MacKeil, Jean (Greg) Pyatt, Harry James (Sue) Wolstenholme and the late Catherine (Richard) Dyer. Dad will be missed by his sister, Freda Vickers of Cape Breton and his brother, Earl of Kincardine.
Predeceased by his sisters, Muriel, Jessie, Mildred, Gertrude, Dorothy, Hilda and Helen, all of Cape Breton. Predeceased by his brothers, James (Jean) and Harold of Toronto. Dad leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dad moved to Toronto in 1945. He retired from Datafile in 1991, the company that he helped to build. He enjoyed bowling and hunting and will be missed by his hunting buddies and nephews, Junior Vickers, Mel, and Lawrence Birmingham.
Friends will be received at The Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville, on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. A legion service will be held at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Durham Regional Cancer Centre will be gratefully appreciated.
Dad will be remembered as an unselfish, hardworking and sincere man.
You will be missed.
