LAURIE ANN WAYNE

Born In: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada

Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: September 16th, 2010

November 26, 1962 - September 16, 2010

Laurie passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Laurie fought a hard, dedicated battle with cancer.

Laurie was born and raised in Kamloops. She attended Beattie, Sahali, and Kamloops Senior Secondary (Grad 1980). She started her working career at the Brock Pub, she loved the patrons and the ownership (Ingmar and Eileen). Afterwards, she took a position with CP Rail as Crew Dispatcher and Machine Clerk. She left Kamloops and took positions in Winnipeg for seven years and then Calgary.

Laurie loved to travel. She always had a trip planned and frequented her favourite spot Las Vegas, many times over.

Laurie never did marry or have children. She always considered her fellow workers, patrons and friends as her family. This was never so evident in the last months of her life at the Hospice as her daily visitors crowded her room with conversation, affection and laughter.
Laurie was predeceased by her Dad, Barry Wayne in 2002.

Survived by her Mother, Gerry Wayne, Sister Teresa (Peter) Buchanan, Brother Greg Wayne and Brother Stacy (Amber) Wayne. Laurie also left behind nephews, Ryan (Jackie) Buchanan, Danno Buchanan and Miles Wayne, as well as Laurie's only niece Justine Wayne. Laurie had a close relationship with her favourite Auntie Wig (Marguerite Dougan) and Uncle Gerald Legg, numerous cousins Tracy Wilson and Lana and David Dazelle. In addition, Laurie loved her "2nd family" just as much: Eileen and Ingmar Christianson; Diana and Connie; Denis and Penny Jacques; and Lisa and Gerry.

We would like to note that Laurie had a strong affection for a lot of people that are too numerous to mention but would like to state a few close friends: Cindy and Richard Zorn and Steve Jeffery. They meant the world to Laurie.

Throughout her battle with cancer, Laurie managed to organize the 1st Colon Walk/Run in Kamloops to raise awareness. Special thanks to all those that supported her in this endeavour.

In closing, the Wayne Family would like to thank the Kamloops Hospice for their support and caring throughout Laurie's time of need. Day or night, they were always there for her. Thank you.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hal Rodgers Hall at Albert McGowan Park on Sunday, September 26th, 2010 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
