J. Omer LeBlanc

1924 - 2010 - J. Omer LeBlanc, 86, of Dieppe, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 19th, 2010, at the Moncton Hospital after a courageous fight against cancer. Born in St-Anselme, NB, he was the son of the late Adelard and the late Saraphine (née: LeBlanc) LeBlanc. Retired in 1989, Omer spent 21 years as a school bus driver for district #15 and a councillor for the village of St-Anselme. During World War II, Omer was an airplane mechanic for Canadair, he also owned his own service station (Texaco) in the 1960's and he was a postman for many years as well. Omer will be remembered as a hard working, kind-hearted man with a good sense of humour, who lived a full life. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, a good father and a generous friend. Mr. LeBlanc was a parishioner of St-Anselme Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Freda (née: Goguen); two daughters: Denise LeBlanc (Robert Beaulieu) of Fredericton and Monique (Eric) Harrigan of Riverview; one son Daniel "Dano" (Renelle) of Memramcook; two grandchildren: Drew and Ella; five brothers: Victor (late Lena) and Gerard (Gloria) both of Dieppe, Raymond (Anita) of Waltham, MA, Bernard of Framingham, MA, Lorenzo (Rose) of Jackman, ME; seven sisters: Francis (late Gerry) Beauchamps of Montreal, QC, Stella (Ben) James of Labrador, Nfld, Huberte (Reginald) Leger of Raymond, NH, Yolande, Annette and Phyllis (late Ron) Landry all three of Dieppe and Norma (Jerry) LeBlanc of Waltham, MA and also several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Marguerite in 1995 and also by one brother, Camille in 1958.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated from Saint-Anselme Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe, NB on Thursday, September 23rd, 2010 at 11 am. Interment in Notre-Dame du Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB. Donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. www.chartersville.com
