Joseph Raymond Robertson, 84, River Bourgeois, Richmond Co., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, Port Hawkesbury.
Born in River Bourgeois, he was a son of the late Fredrick and Catherine Ann (Samson) Robertson. Raymond was a retired letter carrier with Canada Post, Kingston, Ont. He was a member of St. John the Baptist parish, River Bourgeois and a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 47, St. Peter's.
He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in the Royal Canadian Army in Germany, France and Holland. He was wounded in Germany just two weeks before the end of the war.
Raymond leaves to mourn his wife, Bridget (Clark), Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home; daughter, Cathy Cranidge, Halifax; sons, Michael, Toronto, Ont. and Peter, Czech Republic and grandson, Matthew, Oshawa, Ont.
He was predeceased by his brother, William.
Visitation will be held today (Saturday) from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in River Bourgeois Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, River Bourgeois, with Fr. Mariadoss Lourdusamy officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Donations in memory of Raymond may be made the River Bourgeois Funeral Home, Parkinson Society Canada- Maritime Region or a charity of choice.
