Irène Gautreau, 97, wife of the late Adolphe Gautreau formerly of Main St., Shediac passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the Villa Providence Home, Shediac. Born in Scoudouc on November 1, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Théotime and Élise (Bourque) Melanson.
She is survived by her four daughters: Lucille McCarthy (Paul) of Miramichi, Stella Collette (Norman) of Shediac, Muriel Hendrickson (Ralph MacDonald) of Salisbury and Rachel Laperrière (Yvan) of Montréal, QC, a son Bernard (Benoite) of Shediac, ten grandchildren: Lisa, Lynn, Paul, Susan, Michael, Kim, Karen, Julie, Justin and Stephanie, eight great grandchildren, a special niece and nephew, Stella Cormier and Oscar Gould and also by many nieces and nephews. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Besides her husband Adolphe (1986), she is also predeceased by five sisters: Valida, Sara, Nélida, Corinne, Yvonne and by three brothers: Alphonse, Camille and Pierre Melanson.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Frenette Funeral Home Ltd., 396 Main St., Shediac (532-3297) on Sunday, from 2 to 4p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of departure 10:20 a.m. Funeral mass will be held Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Shediac on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the parish cemetery.
