1940 - 2010 - Miramichi - John Orson Savoy, husband of Audrey Savoy, of Eastwood Street, Miramichi, passed away accidently,on Friday, September 24, 2010, at the age of 70. Born in Chatham, on June 9, 1940, he was the son of the late Albert and Alice (Robichaud) Savoy. He was a retired member of the Canadian Armed Forces (Cdn Army) and a former employee of Corrections Canada, working as an instructor at the Atlantic Institution in Renous. He attended St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Miramichi and was a member of #1219 Council, Knights of Columbus, Miramichi. He is survived by his wife, the former Audrey L. O'Donnell; one daughter, Sherri Cormier (Marty Rowe), of Shediac; two grandchildren, Cindy (Jeff McDonnell) and Corey; two great grandchildren, Cole and Madison; two sisters, Vida Daigle, of Miramichi and Albertine Curtis, of Trenton, Ont. He was predeceased by two half sisters, Ada Hallihan and Cecilia Guimond; one half brother, Robert Thompson.
Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home, on Tuesday only, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian will be celebrated from St. Michaels Basilica, on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 11 am, conducted by Father John Fraser. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. Please note, vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon, at 1:45pm.
