HINES, Walter Murray - 67, of Brickton, passed away, Thursday, September 16, 2010 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Grafton, Kings County, he was a son of the late Andrew R. and Olive (Murphy) Hines. Walter retired as a culinary engineer from CFB Greenwood Officers Mess. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #112 Lawrencetown. Walter loved the land and enjoyed farming, gardening, country music and going to jam sessions. He is survived by his wife of 20 years the former Nita Kelley; daughter, Wanda (Joe) McGill, Inglisville; sons, Brian (Tuyet) Hines, Bedford; Elvert (Kathy) Hines, Digby; stepsons, Stuart Bentley (Cristy), Dartmouth; James Bentley (Angela) Edmonton, AB; sister, Vera Veinot, Arlington; half sister, Ella (Charlie) Franks, Whitby, ON; grandchildren, Jessica, Tonya, Emily, Allison, Tammy, Natasha, Kevin and Nikolas; step grandchildren, Preston, Syanne, Ava and Charlotte. He will be dearly missed by his "kids" Gus and Brandie. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Faith "Faye"; stepdaughter, Susan Bentley, sisters, Marion Hines and Thelma Grant; brothers, Ronald, Elvert, Floyd, Leslie and Edgar. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service was held 2:00PM, Monday, September 20, 2010, in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448, Pastor Patty Beals officiated. A reception for family and friends followed the service. Interment in the Whitman Cemetery, South Williamston. By request, family flowers only.
