It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Katie Montgomery on September 28, 2010 with her family at her side. Katie was born in Spring Valley on November 25, 1919. She married Mervin Montgomery on November 8, 1939 and they farmed at Crane Valley until 1974, although they moved to Moose Jaw in 1968. Katie enjoyed gardening, Sunday suppers with her family and grand dogs. She is predeceased by her husband Mervin in 1996, parents Peter and Katherine Runzer, brothers and sisters, Frank, Benjamin, Joseph, Peter, Eva, Elizabeth, Mary, Hanna; and daughter-in-law Eva. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Wilfred - Vernon, BC, (Kevin, Kelvin (Karen), and Stacy); Ethel (Barry) Akins - Outlook, (Bradley (Terri), and Michael (Candace); Emily Montgomery - Moose Jaw; Barbara (Terry) Moore - Regina, (Trent (Kerry), and Steven (Brandy); Donald (Marie) Montgomery - Moose Jaw, (Ryan); as well as eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sisters-in-law Helen Runzer, Theresa Montgomery, Florence Montgomery, and Joyous Lidberg; and many nieces and nephews. A Family Graveside Service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery. Della Ferguson will officiate. A Come & Go Tea in Katie's memory will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St.E. on Saturday October 2, 2010 at 3:00 pm. Memorials to a charity of choice, would be appreciated.
