Lantz passed away peacefully in Buchanan Memorial Hospital on Oct. 7, 2010.
Born Oct. 24, 1928 in Pubnico, he was a son of the late Harry and Helen (Hines) Cooke.
He is survived by best friend and soul mate, Barbara Anderson, Dingwall; daughter, Sandra Cooke, Flordia; stepdaughter, Karen (Leo) Phillippo, Sydney; stepsons, David (Murdena) Podanovitch, Cape North; Brent (Andrea) Anderson, Cape North; sisters, Alice (Leo) Barron, Ontario; sister-in-law, Claire Cooke, Sydney; brother, Gilbert (Claire), North Sydney; three granddaughters; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by wife, Anna (MacDonald) Cooke; stepson, Bobby Padanovitch; sisters, Jean Cooke, Beverly Carry; brother, Leonard.
Lantz was a hardworking, kind, loving man who liked to help others. He was a man of many trades and his last love was his company Lantz Cooke Trucking.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and doctors at Buchanan Memorial Hospital for all the loving care they provided to Lantz.
Visitation will be held 4-6 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 with funeral service 2:30 p.m. Sunday, both in Aspy Bay United Church, Rev. Margie Wood will officiate. Interment in the Little Cemetery, Aspy Bay.
In lieu of flowers donations, in Lantz's memory may be made to the palliative care unit at the Buchanan Memorial Hospital.
