The death of Mr. Ernest Everett Whitney, husband of Gertrude (Ford) Whitney, occurred on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 87. Born in Whitney, NB, he was the son of the late Russell and Rosie (Allison) Whitney. Ernest was a member and elder of St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church, Sunny Corner, he was retired from Lounsbury's (1950-1980), was a custodian with District 8- MVHS (1980-1987) and worked for Stanley Insurance (1970-1987). Besides his wife, Gertrude, Ernest is survived by: two daughters: June Tozer (Brent) of Whitney, NB; Arlene Sherrard (Blake) of Moncton, NB; sisters: Margaret Tozer (Lorne) of Whitney, NB; Myrtle Baisley (Jack) of Brantford, ON; brothers: Hubert (Alma) and Stillman (Christine) all of Whitney, NB; grandchildren: Cara Gilmore, Melissa Sisk and Travis Sherrard; great grandchildren: Brendan, Samuel, Lillian, William and Hudson. Besides his parents, Ernest is predeceased by: infant son: Harry (1949), sisters: Margaret and Bernetta, brothers: Elwin, Wilson, Lawrence and George.
The family received visitors at Bell's Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church, Sunny Corner today, October 11, 2010 at 2 PM with Rev. Cal MacInnis officiating assisted by: Rev. Gillis Smith. Burial will follow in the St. Stephen's Presbyterian Cemetery, Boom Road. In Ernest's memory, donations may be made to a memorial of one's choice.
