It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Cornelius Genter of Sydney Mines, on Oct. 9, 2010, after a lengthy illness.
Kenneth was the son of the late Theodore and Ruby (Mauger) Genter.
He is survived by his wife, Martha (Carey); his sons, John (Charlene), Florence, and Richard (Laureen), Sydney; his daughters, Corrina (Normand), Dartmouth, and Rebecca (Josh), Sydney Mines; and his six grandchildren, Aaron, Melissa, Joshua, Jeffrey, Sarah and Chloe. Also surviving are his sisters, Selina (Cecil), Diane and Ruby; his brother, Theodore (Edna); and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John, a brother, Joseph in infancy, and his sister, Marjorie.
Kenneth was a former employee of Devco where he retired in 2000. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed bowling in his earlier years.
The family would like to thank Dr. McKeough, the nurses and all staff members on 4 West and the palliative care volunteers at the Northside General Hospital.
Visitation will take place today (Tuesday), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation.
