PINEO, Doris Roseline, 96, Wolfville, passed away peacefully at the Wolfville Nursing Home on Monday, October 4, 2010. Born April 23, 1914, in Wolfville, she was the daughter of the late John Frederick and Lena Beatrice (Smith) Pineo. When Doris was born, she weighed a mere pound. Her first crib was a shoebox kept in the warming oven of the old wood stove and her early food was given from an eyedropper. Her mother's wedding ring fit around her wrist. She spent most of her life in the Wolfville area where she worked at various locations, such as the Evangeline Inn and Acadia University. Doris is survived by her sons, Donald (Shirley) Pineo, Mantua, Hants Co.; Floyd Patterson, Halifax; son-in-law, Yvon Francis, grandchildren Donnie, George, Newport;Sherri Pineo, Billtown; Monique Francis, Halifax; and Nicolle Francis (Grant) Muir, Scotland; great grandchildren Courtney Davidson, Chloe and Carly Taylor, Candace Boyle and Samantha Muir, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Rose Marie (Pineo) Francis, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Guy and Mary, George and Annie, and Charles and Lorna. The family would like to thank the Wolfville Nursing Home staff for the special care given to Doris where she resided since 2001. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 2:00 pm from Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, with Rev. Sandra Fyfe officiating. Visitation took place at the same location on Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00pm. Interment followed the service at Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. Following the interment, all were welcomed to join the family at the residence of Kathleen "Sissy" Isnor, 405 Forsythe Road, Greenwich for a reception. Family flowers only by request. Donations in Doris's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Serenity Funeral Home & Crematorium, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, NS, B4P 1E7.
