John Douglas Chadwick passed away peacefully in his sleep in an Edmonton hospital on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the age of 95 years. Doug was born in Moose Jaw on February 10, 1915. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway as a carman (carpenter) from 1935 - 1976. He was a member of the Brotherhood Railway Carmen of Canada. He lived in Moose Jaw until December 2008 when he moved to Sherwood Park, Alberta to live with his daughter and family. Doug was involved in church activities at St. Barnabas and St. Michael's and later at St. Aidan's, Moose Jaw as well as St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sherwood Park. Throughout his life he was physically active: dancing, ice skating, cross-country skiing, biking, bowling and was still going for walks at age 95. Family was very important to Doug and he enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and especially his visits to Emma Lake, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his wife Mary (1995), parents, brother Edmund and two sisters, Blanche and May. He is survived by son Bruce (Rojeanne) - North Battleford; daughter Mary Lee (Dan) DiMarco - Sherwood Park, AB; three grandchildren: Janelle (Glen) Dembicki - Lloydminster, SK; Sherri Chadwick - Prince Albert, SK, Darren DiMarco, Edmonton, AB; three great-granddaughters: Kacey, Bailey and Paige Dembicki; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation with family graveside service in Moose Jaw at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
