Edith Harvey

Mrs. Edith Rosalie Harvey of Embassy Hall, Quispamsis, NB and Seal Cove, Grand Manan passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughter on Sunday, November 7, 2010. Born in Watertown, Mass. March 27, 1924, she was the first child of the late Basil and Loleen (Wilson) Bagley. She was predeceased by her husband Leamon Harvey (1970) and sister Janet Noddin. A very loving, resourceful and creative person, Mom was always working with her hands; in her early days making clothes, braided rugs, quilts and knitting. A self-taught artist, Mom was a member of The Group of Eight, an art group on the island. An adherent to the Seal Cove Baptist Church, she was a member of the Pythian Sisters Lodge. Working in the service industry most of her life, Rosalie has fed the masses as cook at the local high school and later the nursing home. She operated a boarding house and in later years Rosalie’s Bed and Breakfast where she welcomed travelers from around the world, introducing them to island cuisine and way of life. Rosalie is survived by her children Milton Daniel (Shirley) of Gray, Me., Linda Campbell (John) of Cranbrook, BC., Anne Carvell (William) of Long Reach, NB, stepchildren Thurman Harvey (Madeline) and Bessie Russell (Bert); brother Rev. Milton Bagley (Patricia); sister Audrey Ingersoll (Larry); grandchildren Daniel, Peter, Melissa, Jesse and Samara and three great grandchildren, step grand and great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews (special niece “chickadee” Carolyn) and many friends far and wide. We wish to thank the staff at Embassy Hall for the love, compassion and care given to Mom (and the rest of us) during her time there. You are all angels, well chosen for the work you do.
