RAYMOND, Nancy Shirley (Newell) – age 71 of Salem, Massachusetts, passed away Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Kaplan Hospice House, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was the devoted wife of Donald J. Raymond with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Newellton, and raised in Hebron, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Mildred (Goodwin) Newell. Nancy left Yarmouth and went to Salem to marry Don in 1958. She was a loving wife and mother and devoted her life to creating a home for her family. Nancy loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved socializing with her many friends at the Century House in Peabody. She enjoyed reading, cooking and housekeeping while maintaining a physical fitness routine. She will be missed by many. In addition to her husband Don, she is survived by sons Garry, Scott and Mark (Linda) Raymond all of Salem, David (Pam) Allen of Moncton; daughters Pamela (Wayne) Scott of Worcester, Suzanne Raymond of Salem; 9 grandchildren Amy, John Jr. and Laura Keyes, Shayne and Ashley Scott, Jillian and Rebecca Raymond, and Cody and Joshua Raymond; 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother William (Marjorie) Newell, Overton; sisters Geraldine Corporon, Wedgeport, Marjorie Melanson, Moncton, Marcia (Walter) Hurlburt, Deerfield, and Deborah (David) Berry, Yarmouth. Relatives and friends gathered at the Levesque Funeral Home, Salem on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 8 a.m. followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Salem at 9 a.m. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
