MacIntyre, Eileen Theresa, 78, resident of Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, formerly of St. Peter’s, passed away Nov. 14, 2010, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Whiteside, Richmond County, she was the daughter of the late Roderick and Mary Ann (Cameron) MacDonald.
A faithful member of St. Peter’s parish and altar society, Eileen was devoted to her family and well known as a wonderful cook who has left behind many special memories including treasured pieces of knitting and needlework.
She had a special place in her heart for all her grandchildren and looked forward to visits from family and friends.
She first worked as an operator at the St. Peter’s telephone office and then for many years as receptionist to Dr. E.F. O’Rafferty until her retirement.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Imelda (Lewis) Farrell, Antigonish; Mary (John) Currie, Howie Centre, children Andrea and Scott; Brian (Maureen), Dartmouth, children Ian and Neil; Gerald (Trish), Oakville, children Ryan and Katie; Rod, Dartmouth. She is also survived by her sister, Celina (Walter) Malatesta, Wilmington Mass.; and sisters-in-law, Anne Marie MacInnis, Port Hawkesbury, Colleen MacDonald, Whiteside, Elsie MacDonald, Melrose, Mass.; and brother-in-law, Donald MacIntyre, Riverside.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence in June of this year, brothers, Ronald, Alexander and William (Bill) and sisters, Mary Walker and Rita MacDonald.
Visitation will be 2-5 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, in River Bourgeois Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, with Fr. Everett MacDow officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Family flowers only.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Strait Richmond Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
