It is with heavy hearts that Connie’s daughters, Chantal McIntyre, Waterloo, ON, and Tanya (Lance Lickfold) McIntyre, Mallorca, Spain announce the passing of their father in the Freeport Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario on Monday, November 15, 2010.
Connie will be remembered and sadly missed by his grandson, Tyler McIntyre, Waterloo; his sisters, Anne (Vince) McDonald, Halifax and Ursula Taylor, Ottawa and his life-long best friends Donny and Norma Roper, Reserve.
Connie was born in Glace Bay, to the late Peter and Annie (Connington) McIntyre, on October 11, 1930.
Predeceased by his sister, Joan (Peter John) McDonald and brothers Manning, Bernard, Allister and Charlie.
Growing up in Glace Bay was a series of commitments to family and friendships; with many years spent in the real estate industry. Connie retired to Florida in 1991, and moved to Ontario in 2002 to be close to his two girls and his grandson, where he continued to live a full and happy life while being a constant inspiration and example of loving kindness in every life he touched.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday 7-9 p.m. in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be 2 p.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Parish Church, Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Connie’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Manning or Allister McIntyre scholarship fund at Cape Breton University.
