Norman Henry Johnston passed away November 22, 2010, at the Swift Current Care Centre at the age of 83. The graveside service for Norman Johnston was held on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at 10:30 AM from the Bestville Cemetery, with David Williams officiating. The Pallbearers were Denise Johnston, Craig Williams, Stefanie Johnston, Stacie Empey, Ryan Williams, Jennifer Williams, Jared Johnston. Norman is survived by his wife Lillian, children; Gary (Carolyn) Johnston, Marilyn (David) Williams, Julie (Dale) Bassen of Santiago, Chile, Grandchildren; Denise Johnston, Craig Williams, Stefanie Johnston, Stacie (Garth) Empey, Ryan Williams, Jennifer Williams, Jared Johnston, Ryan Williams, and Great Grandchild Chase. Norman was predeceased by his parents; Andrew and Mabel Johnston, brothers; Wilbur and Lester, Sister; Leona Forbes, and in-laws; Magdalene Johnston, Lucille Johnston, Ronald Forbes. Norman was born on the farm in the Bestville District on March 12, 1927. He attended the Idaho School. He married Lillian Korlak from South Elbow in June of 1952. To Norman farming was his life. Norman completed a TV & Radio repair course through Devry by correspondence and fixed many TV's in the community. He was an avid baseball player in his younger years as a catcher with the Idaho Baseball team. Norman was a councillor for the RM of Pittville and also was Chairman of the Board for the Cabri Hospital. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family, also Sunday drives, TV, reading and watching the grandchildren in figure skating and playing hockey. Donations in Norman's name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice and would be appreciated by the family. Culham/Bowers Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
