Beveridge, Jean Frances ( Eaton) - 92, of Wolfville, passed away peacefully at home on November 29, 2010. Born in Bridgewater on May 31, 1918, the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Frank Eaton. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. J.M.R. Beveridge and her brother, Keith Emerson Eaton. Jean received her B.A. from Acadia in 1939 and her B.L.Sc. from the University of Toronto in 1940. She enjoyed many pursuits, including a voracious interest in reading and learning, gardening, orchids and duplicate bridge. She earned her M.A. in philosophy from Dalhousie University in 1975 and was a regular registrant in continuing education courses at Acadia up to her 90th birthday. She was a longtime member of the King's County Garden Society, The Orchid Society of Nova Scotia, and was an Honorary Life Member of the Valley Gardeners Club. A dedicated bridge player, she achieved the designation of Silver Life Master in November, 2009 from the American Contract Bridge League. She is survived by her children, Catherine Katz, James Beveridge (Geri), Alexander Beveridge, Robert Beveridge (Bea), Duncan Beveridge ( Margo),William Beveridge (Cinda), Margaret (Betsy) Beveridge (Kim Armstrong), 27 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The family owes special thanks to Dr. Roger Hamilton and to Jeanette Kerr and her team of caregivers who made Jean so comfortable and able to enjoy life in her own home. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at the request of the deceased. A gathering in memory and celebration of her life was held at the Pereaux Baptist Church on Sunday, 2:00 p.m. December 5, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Carey Me, Supporting Palliative Care in the Home, vrh.foundation@ns.sympatico.ca
