Gerard O'Handley, 59, Port Hawkesbury, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010.
Gerard was born in Sydney, a son of the late Roderick and Sarah (MacNeil) O'Handley. Gerard was quick witted and always had a joke on hand. He was an avid reader, outdoorsman, outstanding baseball player in his younger years and all around sports enthusiast. He was a foreman with the Cape Breton and Central N.S. Railway.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Rodena (MacLean) O'Handley; sons, Darryl (Tammy), Edmonton, Alta., Christopher (Cindy), Cole Harbour and Kyle (partner Robin), Edmonton, Alta.; grandsons, William and Mason O'Handley, Edmonton, Alberta; siblings, Ann Marie Donovan, Big Pond, John O'Handley, Halifax, Roy (Cecilia), Prime Brook, Kathleen (John Allan) MacNeil, Sydney and Leonard, Boisdale.
He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Valerie O'Handley and brother-in-law, Joe Donovan.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. Thursday, December 23rd in St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, Boisdale, from where the funeral mass will be held at 12 p.m., with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
