Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex on Friday, December 17, 2010, in her 89th year. Predeceased by her first husband: Wallace Laite; second husband: Frank Brown. Leaving to mourn her loving daughter: Joy Dugan (Alvin); precious granddaughter: Ashley Rae Dugan; special nephew: Stirling Hoddinott (Louisa); special family: Murray and Shirley Wells, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends in Canada, England and the United States. A war bride who came to Newfoundland from England in 1945, was well known for her knitting, generous spirit and witty mind and loved by all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 20th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Cremation will follow visitation. Funeral service will be held at St. Mary The Virgin Anglican Church on Wednesday, Dec. 22nd at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be made to the Lung Association of Newfoundland & Labrador or to St. Mary's Anglican Church.
