1909-2009. Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on Friday, June 26th 2009 in her 100th year, last surviving member of her family. She leaves to mourn her daughter Marilyn Smith, granddaughter Susan Hope, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews relatives and friends, both in Canada and the United States. Gertrude donated her body to the MUN Medical School to help in Medical Research, hence there will be no viewing. A service of celebration of her life will take place in the Chapel of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on Tuesday June 30th 2009 at 1:15 p.m.. A special thank you to the sisters’ and staff of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home and to Noreen and Dingle for their loving care and kindness.
