Georgette Billard

Georgette Billard age 90 years of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan and formerly of the Dollard, Saskatchewan district died on Friday, December 24, 2010 at the Shaunavon Hospital & Care Centre following a brief illness. She was born in the Dollard district on August 19, 1920 where she received her education at Valroy School. Georgette was self taught and was always seeking more knowledge. She married Raymond Billard on October 21, 1941 at Dollard. They lived and farmed in the Dollard district until moving to Shaunavon in 1981. Georgette was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, a charter member of the CWL and received the Maple Leaf Service Pin in recognition of her many years of service. She served on the executive of the Shaunavon Pioneers Association. Georgette was an avid bridge player. She was affectionately called g.g. by her great grandchildren. Her passion was gardening. Georgette was predeceased by her husband Raymond on July 7, 2009, her parents Delphis and Marie Gregoire, two brothers in infancy, one sister Cecile, and two brothers-in-law Pat Gauthier and Al Champagne. She is survived by her three children Maurice (Sandra) of Dollard, Jacqueline LaPointe (Joe) of Saskatoon, and Michael (Sherry) of Dollard, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, one brother Jerome Gregoire (Birdie) of Eastend, three sisters Laurette Gauthier of Cowansville, Quebec, Isabelle Champagne of Montreal, Quebec and Lucille Gilmor of Calgary as well as by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held from Christ the King R. C. Church in Shaunavon on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Father John Mock officiating. The eulogy was presented by Joe LaPointe, the soloist was Pam Pander and urn bearers were Lee Billard and Rory Billard. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at St. Joan of Arc R. C. Cemetery at Dollard at a later date. Prayer services were held from Christ the King R. C. Church on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Billard, Marc Billard, Guy LaPointe, Marc LaPointe and Christopher Billard.
