At the Saint John Regional Hospital, December 30, 2010, Mr. Floyd McLaughlin passed away at the age of 83. He was the husband of Helen (Bourgoin) for 57 years. Born in Grand Falls, NB, June 11, 1927, he was the eldest son of the late Kenneth McLaughlin Sr. and the late Margaret (Kavanaugh). He lived and breathed farming all his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger days and playing cards and driving around and watching the crops grow in his later years. Besides his wife, he leaves behind him one daughter Lynn (Robert Armstrong) of Nauwigewauk, NB, six sons, Leigh (Ginette Levesque), Michael (Michelle Wright), Brian (Debbie Rioux), all of Grand Falls, John (Christine McCarthy) of Woodstock, George (Sonja Johnsen) and Kent (Lise St-Onge) of Grand Falls along with grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan, Myran, Tyler, Derek, Nikki, Cheryl, Laura, Brad, Alec, Kenneth, Elizabeth, Weston, Izaak, Alison, Joe, Kendra, Hunter. He is also survived by three sisters, Marion McCarthy, Sheila McLaughlin (Wayne), Joyce Castaldo (Frank). He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Kenneth Jr. and a sister, Susan.
Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Sunday ONLY, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. His funeral service will be held Monday, January 3rd at 10 a.m. from St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls (Portage) with Father Curtis Sappier officiating. Interment will be in the Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Floyd would have preferred donations in his memory be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association, which would be appreciated by the family. www.oregans.ca
