James Michael (GooGoo) Sylliboy, 54, We'Koqma'q First Nation, passed away suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at QE II Health Sciences Center, Infirmary site, Halifax.
Born Oct. 12, 1956, he was a son of the late William N. and Janet (Bernard) Sylliboy.
He is survived by sons, Joseph Curt (Shannon) Phillips and Joseph Noel (Jessica) Phillips, both of We'Koqma'q; stepchildren, Bernice (Richard) Googoo, Bobby (Linda) Gould, Marcia (Dale) Gould, all of We'Koqma'q, Dennis (Delphine) Gould, South Caroline, USA; grandchildren, Brian, Brendan, Drew, Kendra, Caroline, Leah, Emily; step-grandchildren, Bernessa, Ritchie, Storm, Lucinda, Robbi-Lynn, Leon, Marissa, Roman and Owen; sisters, Marie (Ben) Sylliboy, Dorothy Googoo and Sarah (Cecil) Sylliboy, all of We'Koqma'q, Mildred Narvey, Connie Metallic, both of Burnt Church, N.B., Muriel Knockwood, Ontario, Brenda Prosper, We'Koqma'q; brothers, Bernie Sylliboy, Lawrence Sylliboy, John (Sadie) Sylliboy, Michael Sylliboy, all of We'Koqma'q; siblings, John (Phyllis) Prosper, Jean Prosper, Betty (Stanley) Googoo, John Angus Googoo, Stephen Googoo, Keith Googoo, Susan Evans, Cynthia (George) Sark, Eleanor Googoo, all of We'Koqma'q, Anna (Gerald) Farrell, Blues Mills. He is survived by his Wit'apeskl, Clare Phillips, We'Koqma'q; and her son, Colt, Alberta; aunts, Caroline Marshall, Membertou, Josephine Peck, Wagmatcook, and Catherine Bernard, Eskasoni; uncles, Joseph J. Googoo, Ben N. Sylliboy, both of Eskasoni; godchildren, Christina, Georgina, Dean, Paul, Shawna, Kyle and John and chosen Mother by heart, Betty Paul, Eskasoni.
He was predeceased by his birth mother, Martha (Googoo) Prosper, birth father, Angus Googoo, his son's mother, Caroline Phillips and his partner Janet Gould, sisters, Linda Mae Paul, Marilyn Johnson, brother, Bernie Peters and godchild, Clint.
Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the family residence, 200 Reservation Rd., We'Koqma'q. Funeral mass will held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Blessed Katerie Parish, Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, We'Koqma'q, with Fr. Robert McNeil officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
