Glen Hazlett

Glen L. Hazlett - 1932-2010 - Miramichi - Glen Lysle Hazlett, husband of Kay Hazlett, of Murray Street, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Monday, January 3, 2011, at the age of 78. Born in Fort St. John, British Columbia, on July 13, 1932, he was the son of the late Harry and Mildred (Hart) Hazlett. He was a retired member of the Canadian Armed Forces (R.C.A.F.) employed as the Chief Controller of Air Traffic Control. He attended St. Andrews United Church, Miramichi. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the R.C.A.F. in the Military Personnel Transport Service. He is survived by his wife, the former Katherine (Kay) Sokolowski; one daughter, Linda Sokolowski (Gary), of Kingston, Ont.; one son, Bruce Hazlett, of Ottawa, Ont.; two step daughters, Sharon LeBlanc (Mickey), of Moncton and Kelly Hillier, of Ottawa, Ont.; three step sons, Gary Sokolowski (Linda), of Kingston, Ont., Terry Sokolowski (Tammy), of Brockville, Ont., Dale Sokolowski (Julie), of Omemee, Ont.; one brother, Clarke Hazlett (Stella), of Edmonton, AB; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Gary Hazlett; one brother, Lorne Hazlett. Visiting will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Andrews United Church, on Friday, January 7, 2011, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, later in the spring. Please note, members of Branch #10, Royal Canadian Legion, are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Thursday evening, at 7:30 pm, for a Veterans Service. Member of the Korean Veterans Assoc., unit #42, Miramichi, are asked to assemble at the church on Friday, at 1:30pm to sit as honorary pallbearers during the service. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors' choice, would be appreciated by the family.
