It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marie Donkin, 85, on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at he Georgetown Health Centre in Georgetown, Ont., with her loving family by her side.
Born and raised in New Waterford, she was the eldest daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret 'Maggie' (Wadden) McLellan.
Like so many others at that time, Marie moved to Toronto at a young age to get her start in life. She found the man of her dreams and they raised four beautiful daughters and all that life had to offer. She always enjoyed coming back home to New Waterford with her family to visit family and friends. Marie's door was always open to family and friends, and no one got away without her filling you up with one her hearty meals.
Left to mourn her passing are her loving daughters, Betty Lou (Terry) Askin, Beverly (Ralph) Tripp, Lenore (Kaz) Wesierski, Diana (Peter) Guzicwicz, all of Toronto; sisters, Delores (Bill) O'Neill, Toronto, Theresa Corbett, New Waterford; brothers, Freddy, Toronto, John 'Doughboy' (Lorraine), Leonard (Judy), Dan Hughie (Dianne), all of New Waterford; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Len Donkin, brothers, Gordie and Joey.
A private family service will be held in Toronto with interment following in the Assumption Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford.
