Lawrence Arsenault

In loving memory of Lawrence (Larry) Arsenault, 83 years. He entered into his Lord's presence on Tuesday, the 11th day of January, 2011. Beloved husband and soulmate of 58 years of Magda (nee Mayer). Loving father of Anita (Jack) Greenway, Donna (Leo) Landriault, Catherine (Terry) Coffey and Larry (Lisa). Cherished Papa of John, Laura, Brian (Sarah), Lisa (Dana), Scott, Matthew and Cara and great-granddaughters Maya and Emily. Dear son of George and Celine (Bourque) Arsenault (predeceased). Dear brother of Anita (Emile) Leger (predeceased), Ralph (Marion) (predeceased), Sr. Celine, S.J. (predeceased), Ginger (James) MacKinnon (predeceased), Loretta (Eric) Gould (predeceased), Irene (Ray) Goode, Sr. Edith, S.J., George (Rosa), Robert (Gloria), Marg (Alex) Plausini, Germaine (Vac) Coufal (predeceased), Emile (Theresa) and Sr. Mary Anne, S.J. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Faith and family were the two pillars of Larry's life. Dad/Papa was always available for reading stories, playing cards, hitting a golf ball or baseball or taking his children fishing. Larry was happiest when he was giving to others, whether as one of the original members of the Lively Golf and Country Club, Christ the King Prayer Group, the Creighton Mine Credit Union or as a volunteer at the former Catholic Renewal Center and driver for the Canadian Cancer Society. Larry was an active member of the C.Y.O. and the Knights of Columbus and contributed to the building of St. Pius X Church in Lively and Our Lady of Canada Church in Mindemoya. Larry celebrated his retirement from INCO by spending winters in Florida or enjoying the company of family and friends. Larry loved to "putter" at the cottage he built and loved on Manitoulin Island. Larry loved life and will be remembered for his incredible sense of family, his laughter, his patience, his gentleness, his great generosity and his gift of unconditional love. Larry's life can be summed up in the words of St. Paul: "I have fought the good fight, I finished my course and kept the faith." Thanks to the staff at CCAC and the Cancer Centre with special thanks to his "angels" at the Maison Vale INCO Hospice and Bayshore who showed exceptional love and compassion in their care during Dad's last days.
The family will receive friends at the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St and Hazel St., from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9pm Thursday. Funeral Mass to celebrate Larry's life will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Rd., Sudbury, Friday, January 14th, 2011 at 1pm. Interment in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Parish Prayers 3:30pm Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison Vale INCO Hospice would be appreciated.
