Jessie P. Rea, age 92, of River Hebert, NS, passed away peacefully at Gables Lodge, Amherst, on Thursday, January 13, 2011.
Born in River Hebert, NS, she was a daughter of the late David H and Georgina M. (MacKenzie) Rea.
She was a graduate of the Saint Charles Commercial School. She was a member and treasurer of the River Hebert United Baptist Church, a member of the Women's Missionary Society and a Dominion Life member of the UBWMU, she was a former employee of Robb Engineering for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. In her younger years she enjoyed playing soft ball being a member of the River Hebert Shamrocks, after coming to Amherst she was a member of the Amherst Ladies Bowling League.
She is survived by sister Dorothy Rea, Vancouver; sister in law Amy Rea of Moncton. She was predeceased by her brother John and sister Margaret Hicks.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the River Hebert United Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 2 pm, Rev. Phillip Scott officiating. Burial will take place in the River Hebert Cemetery in the spring.
