Thomas "Tommy" Legere, 69 years of age, of Amherst, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Joggins, he was a son of the late Albert & Edna (Mawdsley) Legere.
Tommy retired from C.P. Rail where he worked for a number of years as a supervisor. Tommy was a musical man who loved singing, playing the guitar & fiddle. He also enjoyed fishing, reading, puzzles and scratch tickets. Tommy loved going for drives with his wife Mary and spending many hours at the Lower Cove beach, swimming and walking hand in hand with Mary. Above all else, he loved his wife, his daughters and his grandchildren.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 40 years, the former Mary Vandenburg; daughters, Tammy Bell (Mike), Tracy Legere both of Toronto ON; granddaughter Constance "Connie", Samantha; grandsons, Justin, Jordan & Gabriel; brother, David (Moira) of Keswick, ON; special niece, Kim Legere (Terry Patterson) of Joggins, NS; several other nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family of friends.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 667-8777 (70 Church St., Amherst, NS). No service by personal request.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Lung Association.
