KEVIN McGINLEY

Born In: Provost, Alberta, Canada
Born: November 29th, 1928

Passed on: January 11th, 2011

McGinley, Kevin Patrick passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 11, 2011 with his family by his side.
He was born November 29, 1928 in Provost, Alberta to Mary and Patrick McGinley.

He is survived by his wife Aileen, daughters Maureen, Moira (Jim), Mary (Richard), and Monica (Martin); son Patrick (Toni); brother John (Sylvia); sisters Mary (Stan), and Patricia.

He loved his nine grandchildren: Ryan, Emily, Kevin, Matthew, Adam, Evan, Mark, Sally and Ryann and three great grandchildren: Lincoln, Keira and Lyla, and with them re-lived his youth at every opportunity.

Kevin married Aileen, his wife of 58 years, in Edmonton where they lived until 1972. A career railroader with Canadian National, Kevin worked as a trainman, conductor and manager across B.C. & Alberta. He retired in 1986 in Kamloops to which he fondly referred to as "Happy Valley". After retiring Kevin became a bowling "Champ", started curling, volunteered for the Wildlife Express Train at the Kamloops Wildlife Park and danced many a waltz with Aileen at the Old Time Fiddler's dances. Kevin and Aileen relocated to Nanaimo in 2007 to be closer to their family and the ocean both of which he loved so much.

His family would like to thank the many caregivers that helped Dad with his long and difficult battle with cancer and to the nurses and staff at Kiwanis Lodge that gave him and the family the best care imaginable.
There will be no service at Kevin's request.

Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man.
