Elva Irene Aprilis - April 19, 1924 - January 2, 2011 (86) of Powell River, BC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 2, 2011. Born in White Rock, NS, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Mildred (Leary) Hancock. She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbour. She is survived by daughters Carole Thulin (Gervais), Lorraine (Grant) Franzen, Cindy (David) Stutt and Kathy Rogers as well as her nine grandchildren Trevor (Tannis) Thulin, Jeff (Jenny) Thulin, Jeff Franzen, Mark Franzen, Angela (Daryl) Carlson, Melanie Stutt, Dan Rogers, Curtis Rogers, Amanda Rogers and her seven great-grandchildren Shaylin, Bryce, Megan, Tyra, James, Tyrel and Kassidy. Also surviving are brothers Robie Hancock, White Rock, NS; Eddie Hancock, (Faye Keith), New Minas; sisters Nellie Forsythe, Halifax, Velma (Dr. George) Ibsen, Dartmouth and sister-in-law, Ida Culos (Ermes), Ashcroft, BC; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Elva was predeceased by her husband, Dino; son-in-law, Mike Thulin, her sisters, Anna Hancock, Marie Hood and brothers, Albert Hancock, Harold Hancock and Earl Hancock. A reception of remembrance was held Saturday, January 8th, at the Town Centre Hotel Ballroom in Powell River, BC. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the White Rock Cemetery, White Rock, NS. Donations may be made to White Rock Baptist Church, White Rock, NS or any charity of your choice.
