1920 - 2011 - Black River Bridge - Mr. Harold Rankin MacLean, husband of Jennie B. MacLean, of the North Black River Road, passed away at his residence, on Saturday, January 15, 2011, following a lengthy illness, at the age of 90. Born in Black River Bridge, on October 9, 1920, he was the son of the late Rankin and Bertha (MacDonald) MacLean. He was a farmer and a dedicated member of St. Stephen's United Church, Black River Bridge. He was a member of the choir; a member of the Board of Stewards; a long serving member of the Black River Cemetery committee. A Veteran of the Second World War, he served overseas with the R.C.A.F. He is survived by his wife, the former Jennie B. (MacLean) MacLean; three daughters, Nancy Russell (Gordon), of Miramichi, Margaret Legere (Peter), of Fredericton, Carol Porter (Jim), of Coaticook, Que.; one son, Brian MacLean (Sheena), of Mississauga, Ont.; one sister, Vera Dickens, of Hamilton, Ont.; one brother, Marven MacLean, of Moncton; ten grandchildren, Craig, Scott, Grant, Ryan, David, Kenneth, Alison, Christopher, Daniel, Erica; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Monday only, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Stephen's United Church, Black River Bridge, on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at 2 pm, conducted by Penny Postlethwaite, assisted by Dean Lawrence. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery, later in the spring. Please note, members of Branch #3, Royal Canadian Legion, are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Monday evening, at 7:30pm, for a Veterans Service. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Black River Cemetery Fund, St. Stephen's United Church or the Miramichi Dialysis Clinic, would be appreciated by the family.
