Melissa Dawn Burton, age 30, of Dartmouth, formerly of Amherst, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, January 19, 2011.
Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Claire Burton, Amherst, and the late Gordy Cook.
Melissa was a wonderful mother that loved and cared for her children. She enjoyed volunteering at her church. She was very easy going, smart, friendly and had a smile that would light up a room. She loved and was loved by her family very much. She will be dearly missed.
She will be sadly missed by her mother Claire Burton, Amhest, step-father David Longshaw, Lower Sackville, NS, her husband Justin Theriault, Dartmouth, her children Damien and Malakai; brother Brian, Amherst; sister Brittany, Amherst; niece Sophie, Amherst, maternal grandparents Merlin and Audrey Burton, Amherst several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are in care of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (906-667-8777) where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 11 am.
