Douglas Reid

1949 - 2011 - Douglas Jensen Reid, 61, of Salem passed away peacefully on January 24th, 2011 at the Moncton Hospital after a lengthy illness. Douglas was born in Riverside, Albert County,NB, on July 13th, 1949, the son of the late Borden and Esther (Jensen) Reid. He worked for NB Tel and Bell Aliant until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers. He enjoyed collecting things and was an avid coin collector. Doug also enjoyed the outdoors, camping and hiking with his family were some of his favorite things to do. He really enjoyed antique cars, especially Chevs and took great pride in his 1964 Chevy that he restored. Doug was definitely a family man who cherished all the time spent with his family and friends. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, he would light up every time the kids came to visit. He was a beloved husband, dad, grampy, brother and uncle who will live on in the hearts of his family forever. He was a very special man. "When a loved one becomes a memory, a memory becomes a treasure, treasure the memories." He will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary (Nelson) Reid; his children, Kevin Reid (Amber) of Hillsborough, Christopher Reid (Hanna) of Salem, and Nancy Reid of Salem; and precious grandchildren, Maxwell, Cynthia, Natasha, Leah and Hannah; sister, Donna Powers (Steven) of Salem; twin brother Darrell Reid (Sandra) of New Canaan; and brothers, Paul Reid (Connie) of Bayfield and Phillip Reid (Terry) of Lower Coverdale; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clark and Marion Nelson of Curryville and by all of the Nelson family. He will also be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and many friends.
He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Thursday, January 27th, 2011 at 2:00pm with Pastor Danny Steeves officiating. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further sharing of memories and for refreshments. Donations to the Bayview Cemetery or to the charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
