Emerson MacDonald
1923 - 2011 - Miramichi - Emerson F. MacDonald, husband of the late Eileen E. MacDonald, of the Veterans' Wing of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, and formerly of the South Black River Road, passed away at his reference, on Monday, January 31, 2011, at the age of 87. Born in Black River Bridge, on June 20, 1923, he was the son of the late Albert and Willamina (MacKnight) MacDonald. He was a former employee of North Shore Construction as well as Bremner Farms Ltd. He was a member of the Wellington Street United Baptist Church and a Veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Cdn. Army, Royal Canadian Regiment, 1st Division, in Africia, Sicily, Italy and Holland. He is survived by two daughters, Diane Godfrey (Edgar) and Willa Strangemore, all of Black River Bridge; two sons, Frank MacDonald (Joan) and Stephen MacDonald (Kim), all of Black River Bridge; two sisters, Louise Dawes (Vince) and Lila Ripley, all of Oshawa, Ont.; one brother, Leonard MacDonald (Laura), of Black River Bridge; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Eileen MacDonald, in 2006; two sisters, Jessie Russell and Marjorie Grant; three brothers, Atchinson, Tom, Lloyd MacDonald.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Wellington Street United Baptist Church, on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at 11 am, conducted by Rev. Cecil Symes. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery, later in the spring. Please note, members of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion, are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, at 7:30 pm, for a Veterans Service.
