Nancy Colleen Gullon
GULLON, Nancy Colleen - 58, Hilden, passed away peacefully Feb 7, 2011 in her home she liked to call "a little piece of Heaven". With her when she passed were her wonderful husband, David and loving daughter Teri. She also leaves behind sisters Neala, Kathy and Serena, and brother Stephen. Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Florence Hare (MacDonald). She grew up in the community of Valley and moved to Ingramport where she lived for 30 years. Her family always came first and she was highly involved in her community and daughter's school and other activities. She later returned to the Truro area, settling in a quaint home in the woods surrounded by wildlife. Nancy wanted everyone to know she is no longer in pain; she can dance and run again. She wanted everyone to remember the good times. The drives, not knowing where we were going, lobster dinners, Thanksgivings together, trips to Mooseland (now the Tangier Hilton), those boat trips and the haddock. To the "Valley girls": from your pine needle houses to the real things and the girls' weekends. Nancy will be remembered as a mother figure to all. She was caring and warm and always made others feel welcomed, loved and appreciated. This led her to form many close friendships which brought her so much joy. Although she faced many hardships, she was always thankful for life and the little pleasures. Those simple things like sitting on the deck outside, chatting over a cup of tea with a friend, fun nights of card games or sharing her famous fudge are memories she treasured. She truly enjoyed her last years in the quiet solitude that her Hilden home provided. She always told tales of her new friends, be it chickadee, purple finch, bunnies, deer or squirrel (her occasional foe). She will be missed by many, as she cared so much and loved so sincerely. We would like to say a special thank you to her palliative care team, David and Dawn for being so thoughtful, kind and caring. Visitation will take place Wednesday, Feb 9th, from 6-8 pm with a memorial service to celebrate Nancy's life on Thursday, Feb 10th at 3:30pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Family flowers only. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross Association.
