It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alfred Slade announce his passing on Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in his 84th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving family, sons: Barry (Joyce), Deer Lake and Edward (Cathy), North Bay, Ontario, daughter Yvonne (Mike) Crowley, Holyrood. Nine grandchildren: Ella (Brook), Bob, Glen (Lori), Keith, Jason, Cory, Tina (Phil), Jennifer and Tammy. 12 great-grandchildren: Zachery, Allison, Emma, Kayla, Kennedy, Chelsey, Joshua, Cole, Thomas, Jacob, Slade and Grayson. His special friend Amelia Dunphy of St. Anthony, sisters-in-law: Mrs. Effie Compton, Ontario, Jessie Seymour, St. John's, Bessie (George) Cole, Carbonear, Alice Penney, Grand Falls/ Winsor, Mrs. Naomi Colbourne and Mrs. Phoebe Ollerhead both of St. Anthony, brothers-in-law Reuben (Millie) Elliott and William (Elizabeth) Elliott both of Cooks Harbor. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Ella, son Alec, sister Hazel Hart and brothers Roland, Jake, Cecil, Edward and Alex, brothers-in-law: Bert Seymore, Freeman Colbourne and Dudley Ollerhead. In lieu of flowers donations to the St. Paul's Church Memorial Fund 17 Spruce Street, Deer Lake, NL, A8A 2C2 in Alfred's memory would be graciously appreciated by the family. Visitation will take place from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, today, Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 10th, 2011 at 11 a.m. from St. Paul's United Church with Rev. Dr. Tony Newell officiating, burial to follow at the family plot. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, Deer Lake.
