Marie passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home in Stamford Connecticut on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011.
Born on Sept. 24, 1940, in North Sydney, C.B., to the late James MacNeil and Margaret Gouthro (MacNeil).
Sis was a waitress with Howard Johnson’s of Darien for 30 years before her retirement.
She is survived by her best friend and loving husband, Francis W. Sheehan of Stamford; her daughter, Carol Gerstenhaber (Lee); and her two sons, Harold (Mindy) and Francis. Also surviving are her brothers, Ronald MacNeil (Suzanne), Quebec, Jim MacNeil (Lynn) Long Island; sister, Darlene Gielen (Peter), Millville; Aunt Jenny Gordon (Charles), Sydney Mines. Also six grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Nicole, Harry, Joey and Dean; one great-grandchild, Cheyann.
Besides her parents, Sis was predeceased by her brother, Paul MacNeil, a sister, Bernadette MacNeil, and an infant baby.
A service will be held Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien, Conn.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Marie’s name to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton, c/o Cape Breton Regional Hospital, 1482 George St., Sydney, N.S., B1P 1P3.
