Adrian Daniel Egan

Age 100, of Chebogue Point, Yarmouth Co., passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on February 17, 2011, two days after his 100th birthday.
Adrian was born February 15, 1911, in St. Andrews, P.E.I. He was a son of the late Donald “Frank” and Mary (McAskill) Egan. Adrian worked the family farm at St. Andrews until moving to Yarmouth in 1960, where he worked for companies in processing of Irish moss and seaweed. He also helped his brother, Jack, at the Yarmouth Candy Company. Adrian was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral. He has been known as a wise and kind person who was always eager to help family and friends in any way he could.
He is survived by nieces, Mary (Brian) Duncan, Chebogue Point; Cleta (Jeffery) Siscoe, South Ohio; nephew, George Egan, Dayton; and their families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, John R. “Jack”; sister-in-law, Helen Egan; aunt, Amelia Egan, who helped their father raise John and Adrian after losing their mother at an early age.
The family would like to thank doctors, Chris Randell and Shelagh Leahey, as well as the nursing staff of 4 North for the advice and excellent care given to Adrian during his brief stay in hospital.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place Friday, February 18, from 7-9 p.m., with prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, February 19, at 1 p.m. from St. Ambrose Cathedral with Father John MacPherson officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery.
