It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Alexander Francis ‘Frank’ Graham of New Waterford on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Colin and Margaret (MacPherson) Graham.
Frank was a member of the Parish Church of St. Leonard, New Waterford. He was a coal miner, retiring from Devco at the age of 55. Frank was a member of the New Waterford Pensioners Club; where he spent many hours playing cards with his friends. A quiet man, Frank enjoyed his Sunday drives across the Island of Cape Breton; exploring its natural beauty. He also loved going on his daily visits to the boardwalk in Dominion.
Frank is survived by his sisters, Pearl Micholsky, New Waterford, Veronica ‘Ronnie’ Brinkley, Madison, Miss., Rita (Emo) Pacenti, Raleigh, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Eunice Passerini (with whom he resided all his life), Mary Catherine Mercier and brothers, John, Martin and Pius.
In honouring Frank’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home in New Waterford. The funeral mass of celebration is Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mt. Carmel Avenue, Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Carmel Centre.
As an expression of sympathy for Frank, memorial donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
