Allen Murray

Formerly of Fredericton, NB, passed away as a result of a heart attack while out hunting near Princeton, BC on November 3rd, 2010.
Allen was one of eleven children of Murdock and Daisy Murray. At the age of 19, Allen and his young wife moved to Vancouver, BC where he attended Community college and earned his Certification in Small Appliance Repair. For a number of years, he operated his own business, then moved to Princeton, BC where he worked in the mines and conducted his small appliance business in his spare time. In 1973, he began employment at the now named Weyehaeuser sawmill in Princeton, Recognizing the importance education, training and self-improvement, Allen continued his studies and received his Secondary School Equivalency Certificate (1982) and shortly after, his Millwright Certification. He retired from Weyerhaeuser in 2006. Many will remembered Allen for his generous hospitality to all but especially to visiting family. As well, he will be remembered as a volunteer in the community especially as a coach in hockey and ball. His work ethic and desire to constantly improve were evident throughout his adult life. Allen spent much time fishing, hunting, camping and enjoying all the area of Princeton had to offer. Allen is survived by his loving partner, Pasty Fawcett, who cared and supported him during his illnesses and declining health in his later years. He is also survived by his children: Allen (Tara) and Thane (Tracy) and Thane’s children Taryn and Turner; his children’s mother Margaret. In addition, he is survived by his siblings; Elizabeth Hoare, Albert (Margaret), Arnold (Marlene), Leo (Maureen), Sheila O’Neil (Keith Bernard), Paul (Sylvia), Joyce Maston (Bob) and many nieces and nephews. Allen was predeceased by his parents, Daisy and Murdock Murray; his siblings Leslie, Ronald and Ivan; sister-in-law Betty, nephews Ian Hoare and Aaron Murray and great-nephew Alex Gunter. Allen will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his many friends and family.
