1932 - 2011 - After a courageous fight, we are saddened to announce the passing of Dr. Peter W. Wybenga of Florenceville. Born in the Netherlands, August 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Minne and Annie (Kingma) Wybenga and husband to Maria (Knottnerus) Wybenga. Peter enjoyed being a loving husband, father, Opa, Groot Opa, uncle, brother and friend. After graduating from Ontario Veterinary College in 1960, Dr Peter practised for 51 years, serving the large and small animal community of Carleton County. He was an active member of the United Church of Canada and an avid Rotarian. His generosity supported many charities, including the CNIB and the Red Cross. He made Meadowview Farms a productive and beautiful place for all. A life lived fully. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maria; his children, Milton Wybenga, his wife Alice, their children, Peter Richard, Alexis and her son Adley, and Jason; Judy Ann Steenwyk, her husband Johan, their children Hannah and Erik; Carolyn Beisel, her husband John, their children, Peter Franklin, David and Kathryn; Albert Wybenga, his partner Tracey, her children Connor and Jenna. His brothers and sister, Martin Wybenga, his wife Amy, their children Kelly & Neil, Lauren, Renee, and Kendall; Frank Wybenga, his wife Henny, their children, Ilse, Maaike & Marco and baby Marit; Thea van Benthem, her husband Ben, their children Anneline & David and Bernie. Sisters-in-law, Catharina Allan, her children Judy Ann and Margaret; Titia van Keppel, her husband Niek; Carin Anderson, her husband John, their children Janice, Ian, Maureen and Kevin.
Visitation will be held from Faith Memorial United Church, Florenceville on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 2:30 pm from Faith Memorial United Church with Rev. Elaine Strawbridge and Rev. Les Johnson officiating. For those who wish, donations made to Faith Memorial United Church would be appreciated. L.R.
