Martha R. (Gaul) Gillespie, 88, Truro, formerly of Cape Breton, passed away peacefully with family at her side in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, on March 1, 2011, after a short illness.
Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Theresa (Wilcox) Gaul. She was a warm loving person who enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. Martha loved to travel and hear of the travels of her family and friends. She lived for her family and was proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Martha was always involved in the many communities in which she lived and would attend church faithfully.
She will be sadly missed by her family. Frank (Ben), Vancouver, Terry (Pam), Lansdale, Penn., Cathy (Jim) Smyth, Moncton, Shawn (Martha), Truro; grandchildren, Joseph, Brendan, Martha, Colin, Matthew, Sean and Michael; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Mia, Cole, Charlie, Makayla, Victor and Martha.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ray; brothers, Frank, Patrick and Joseph; sisters, Helen Nearing and Theresa in childhood.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2011, in St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Enfield, Fr. Andrew Rembarczyk officiating. Interment will be in the St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
