It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our daughter, sister and aunt, Audrey Marie Gouthro which occurred Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital due to complications following surgery, with family present.
Born Oct. 7, 1940, in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of Russell and the late Sally (MacNeil) Gouthro.
Audrey graduated from St. Anne’s High School, Glace Bay, and Mount St. Bernard College, Antigonish. She worked in Halifax and Northern Quebec; returning to Glace Bay to work at Atomic energy Canada Limited until its closing; transferring to AECL Ontario and retiring in 1995. Audrey loved to travel and did so extensively.
Audrey is survived by her father, Russell; sisters, Betty (Crawford) Tracey and Claire (Laird) Wilton; brother, Hector (Bina) Gouthro, Dominion; and their families.
Besides her mother, Audrey was predeceased by her brother, Jack and his wife Anne.
Following Audrey’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Curry’s Funeral Home. The Mass, celebrating Audrey’s life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
