Anne Georgina Thompson

Anne Georgina Thompson (nee Haight) died unexpectedly February 13, 2011 while holidaying in Palm Desert. Anne is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ken Thompson of Prince Albert, SK; son Gord (Donna) Thompson of Prince Albert, SK; daughters Terry Thompson (Ross Smillie) of Lacombe, AB and Patty Thompson (Frank Kemeri) of Calgary, AB; and grandchildren Duncan, Lauren and Erin Thompson; Sara and Sean Smillie; Anna and Aidan Kemeri. Anne is survived by sisters Jean (Gavin) Hamilton, Joyce Brack, Ruth Lauscher, Gail (Don) Guidinger; brother Murray (Marge) Haight; sisters-in-law Marie Haight and Beth (Keith) Coviello; brother-in-law Bill (Pat) Thompson and many nieces and nephews. Anne and her twin brother Alan were born April 3, 1937, the last of eight children born to Sara and Ralph Haight of Floral, SK. They joined twins Jean and Joyce, twins Murray and Muriel and sisters Ruth and Gail. Anne and the Haight family were very active in 4H. Anne attended Floral School, Saskatoon Technical High School, and worked as a secretary. Anne and Ken married in 1957 and had 3 children. The family lived in Kindersley, Saskatoon, Calgary and Shellbrook, before settling in Prince Albert in 1971. Over the years Anne enjoyed cross country skiing, curling, the Kinette Club, K40’s, IODE and the Waskesiu Ladies Golf Club. Anne felt a special connection to Waskesiu and she and Ken spent the last 52 summers there. Anne was a wonderful cook, and very generous with her delicious homemade soup and buns. Anne was predeceased by parents Ralph and Sara Haight; twin brother Alan; sister Muriel and brothers-in-law Bob Brack and David Imrie. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Calvary United Church, 114 - 25 St East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress and Revevered Ross Smillie officiating. Reception at the church to follow. Private committal will take place at a later date.
