Paterno, Clarissa Jean – 91, of Branford, Connecticut, previously a long time resident of Park Lane, New Milford, Connecticut, died peacefully at the Hearth at Gardenside on March 7, 2011. Born in River Philip, Nova Scotia on October 27, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (McLellan) Hewson. Jean worked for 21 years at Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown, Connecticut until her retirement in 1972. She enjoyed the outdoors and had a keen interest in gardening. She spent many winters in Ocala, Florida. Jean is survived by daughter Gail Moscatelli of East Greenwich, Rhode Island and son John Hannah of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. She is survived by grandchildren Deborah Caliendo of Clinton, CT, Julie White of North Branford, CT, and Cynthia Hensley of Wooton, Kentucky. She is survived by great-grandchildren Stephanie and Jack White of North Branford, CT. She is also survived by her twin sister Belle Harris of Rancho Viejo, Texas. Jean was predeceased by her second husband, Fred Paterno, as well as brothers Boyd, James and John Hewson, and sisters Mildred, Ella, Anna, and Fanny Hewson. Private services were held at the W. S. Clancy Funeral Home in Branford, CT on March 10th with interment at Center Cemetery in New Milford, CT.
