BOURNE, Augustus (Gus)– Passed away March 16, 2011 in Victoria, British Columbia. His beloved wife Barbara died in 1995. He leaves daughters: Beverley Ball (Austin) and Nancy Bourne; grandsons: Deryck Ball and Evan Ball; sister-in-law, Ruby Bourne and many nieces, nephews and long-time friends. Gus was the last of the five boys born to Augustus and Caroline (nee Butt) Bourne to pass away. Brothers Hayward, Bill, Fred and very recently, Jim, predeceased him. Born September 24, 1927 in Carbonear, Newfoundland, Gus left the ‘Rock’ to pursue his career as teacher and ultimately, principal. In Ontario, he met and married Barbara Jean Douglas where they resided until her death. Gus then moved to British Columbia to be closer to his daughters. He will be laid to rest in Fort Erie, Ontario with his wife. A service will be held there in May.
