Jeanette Mae MacDonald, 89, of Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, Sydney, formerly of Vulcan Avenue, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at the residence.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Ruth Smith.
She was a member of First United Church, Whitney Avenue and was also a member of the ladies auxiliary.
Jeanette was a true family person who devoted all her energy into her children and her home life.
She is survived by three sons, James (Audrey), Conception Bay South, N.L., David (Jeanette), Woodstock, Ont., Murray (Brenda), Bracebridge, Ont.; a sister, Norma (Fritz) Wierenga, Freeport, Ill.; a brother, Raymond Smith, Calgary, Atla.; three grandchildren, Scott, Jason, Lisa; by great-grandchildren; by several nieces and nephews and by two step-great-grandchildren, Jenna and Wyatt.
She was predeceased by her husband Duncan J. MacDonald in 1983, a well known businessman at Chiasson & MacDonald Ltd.; by brothers, John and George and sisters, Shirley Campbell and Doris Matheson.
Visitation for Jeanette MacDonald will take place (today) Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral service will take place Friday, 1 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel with Rev. Wade Reppert officiating.
Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
